Due to the Olympics, I have found it isn't possible to book train tickets in or out of China between May and September!!! That mean that anyone that was planning on traveling the Trans-Mongolian or Trans-Manchurian in May, June, July, August, or September will either have to find a different route of travel, fly from Ulan Bator to Beijing. This includes Trains 23 an 4 from Moscow. Trains from Moscow to Ulan Bator do not seem to be affected by this.
Have fun with your alternate plans.
